Ellen DeGeneres seems to be ignoring the backlash she received after she compared self-isolation to being in prison.

Hosting her daytime show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, from her sofa in California while the coronavirus outbreak shut down production, Ellen began her rant.

Having been in quarantine for three weeks alongside wife Portia de Rossi, the 62-year-old comedian and TV presenter said: ‘This is like being in jail, is what it is.

‘Mostly because I’ve been the same clothes for 10 days and everyone in here is gay.’

Ellen and Portia are said to own a number properties, but are understood to be quarantining in their $27m (£21m) Santa Barbara mansion.

And despite being faced with criticism on Twitter, the TV host seemed to brush it off like water off a duck’s back as she continued to share a series of videos with her fans.

The first video she posted was one of her speaking with Drew Brees and his wife Brittany who have just donated $5million (£4.3m) to Louisiana.

Amazing!

The money the couple has donated will go towards food banks in Louisiana to help kids, seniors, healthcare workers and people in need of food.

Another video she shared was one of her speaking with Executive producer Andy Lassner.

In the clip, Ellen explained that she wanted to start a challenge called ‘Plank that song’ in order to motivate people during self-isolation.

And her poor colleague Andy was there to demonstrate how the challenge worked.

‘It doesn’t take any equipment at all,’ she began.

‘All you have to do is pick any song and sing it all the way through while you’re holding a plank, but make sure you film it while you’re doing it.

‘Then post it and tag three friends.’
