The Nest viewers have pointed the finger at a new possible murderer after a dramatic episode saw Kaya’s life hang in the balance.

Kaya’s baby was delivered at just 25 weeks and has been placed in an incubator in a desperate bid to help survival.

The teenager is also battling an infection while she recovers from the operation.

Her dark secret from her past – that she killed a pregnant woman when she was a child – came to light as Emily and Jack, who had given up his university place to be with Kaya, found out the truth.

Emily and Dan went to the police to tell them she is a child killer with a new identity. So surely it’s only a matter of time before she realises her secret is out.

Not only that, but Kaya’s mum (played by Harry Potter star Shirley Henderson) is also in the picture has agreed to speak to a journalist about her daughter.

Plus it was revealed that Doddy was actually murdered, and that his death wasn’t drugs related as first thought.

The revelations prompted viewers to come up with the theory that Kaya might not be the killer everyone thinks she is, and her mum and social worker James could be to blame.

Feeling they had cracked it, one viewer said on Twitter: ‘The mother is the killer, the baby isn’t theirs but she will let them keep her, the social worker killed the lad.’

‘I have a feeling Kaya is misunderstood, and Moaning Myrtle was to blame for the murder! Can’t wait for next week!’ read a further tweet.

Read another theory: ‘If she killed Neve why would she get the woman’s name tattooed on her ankle? Doesn’t make sense…don’t think she did it.’

Another gripped fan tweeted: ‘There has gotta be a link with the social worker & his daughter somehow, BUT WHAT IS IT.

‘Hope the boy goes to Cambridge, he is good soul PROTECT HIM AT ALL COSTS.’

A further reaction read: ‘My theory is: The mother is actually the killer. The baby is Kian and kaya’s not theirs. The social worker has got something to do with the death of kian. Finally Kaya keeps the baby and raises it with Jack.’

There are two episodes to go, and while we won’t see episode four until next Sunday, the finale will be aired on the Monday night sparing us the agonising wait.

The Nest continues Sunday at 9pm on BBC One.
