Bake Off: The Professionals lost another pairing on tonight’s episode – with viewers watching Nick and Paul being given their marching orders.
The head chef and pastry chef of Talland Bay Hotel failed to impress the judges in the latest leg of the competition – chocolate week.
For their tasks, the seven remaining pairs were given three challenges – including their first secret challenge.
By the end of the episode both Nick and Paul admitted they thought they were on their way out, with host Liam Charles confirming so after deliberations.
‘I’m proud of what me and Paul have achieved, it’s a shame that we’re going out, obviously, but the teams were better on the day and that’s how the competition works,’ Nick said.
‘The blame is shared, that’s the way it is but good luck to the rest of the teams.’
For challenge one, all teams were given the same ingredients, the team were told to come up with something to present to the judges.
They were then tasked with constructing a huge showpiece involving geometric shapes and moving elements.
No pressure then, guys.
Things definitely got heated in the kitchen this episode with the friendships tested between chefs and their right-hand men, with Nick and Paul clashing over decisions on their final pieces.
Ultimately, it wasn’t enough to impress judges Benoit Blin and Cherish Finden, and after their tarts in particular left a sour taste in their mouths, they were sent packing.
Bake Off: The Professionals continues Tuesdays at 8pm on Channel 4.
