Carl Reiner supported the Black Lives Matter movement, donning a BLM t-shirt in a picture taken during his final days.
The Ocean’s Eleven actor died on 29 June, aged 98.
And a photo, shared on Carl’s official Twitter account today, shows him lying on a bed and smiling happily.
In it, he is joined by daughter Annie Reiner and longtime friend Mel Brooks – with the trio wearing Black Lives Matter tops.
‘Carl had wanted to tweet this picture, taken last Saturday,’ the tweet read. ‘As you can see he was happy and vital up to the very end.
‘He will be sorely missed.’
Carl’s support of the Black Lives Matter movement follows global outrage over the death in May of George Floyd, after Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin kneeled on his neck.
The Dick Van Dyke star died at home of natural causes, his assistant Judy Nagy confirmed to CNN this week.
Carl’s movie credits include The Jerk, Ocean’s Eleven, Ocean’s Twelve and All Of Me.
George Clooney has been among the stars to pay tribute to the comedian in the days since.
‘Carl Reiner made every room he walked into funnier, smarter, kinder. It all seemed so effortless,’ he told Deadline.
‘What an incredible gift he gave us all. His was a life well lived and we’re all the better for it. Rest in peace my friend.’
Beautiful words.
