Ellie Goulding has said she’s not really friends with any other female singers. Which is a bit of a shame.
There’s one big exception to that rule, though: she’s best buds with Katy Perry.
‘I’ve never felt like I fit in with any female artists, which is really strange because I love women so much,’ Ellie said in an interview with the Sunday Mirror this week.
The star – who has just released her fourth studio album Brightest Blue – then explained: ‘I basically write my music for women and I want women to feel empowered. I want them to feel independent, I don’t want them to feel like they have to rely on a man for happiness.
‘So with all that, I do find it strange that I don’t have that connection with other female artists. I wish I did. I follow female artists on social media and I try to be involved but I always feel like the odd one out. I don’t know why.’
Can someone get Gaga to give her a call?
‘If I really need to talk to a female artist who has been through everything, I’m lucky enough to be able to ask Katy for advice,’ added Ellie. ‘And she is incredible at advice.
‘She is funny, she has a great sense of humour. She will tell you how it is.
‘She is one person I have always been able to talk to about stuff.’
We’re glad to hear it.
Roar singer Katy – who is currently expecting her first child – of course attended Ellie’s 2019 wedding to Casper Jopling, along with her fiance Orlando Bloom.
The star also has new music coming up: her next studio album Smile is out in August.
