A serving Metropolitan Police officer will go on trial for voyeurism and possessing extreme pornography involving a dog.

Detective Sergeant Benjamin McNish, 29, is charged with observing someone doing a private act for his sexual gratification while off-duty in north-west London on February 18 last year.

Court documents say the porn charge involves an image allegedly showing someon performing a sex act ‘with a live animal, namely a dog, which was grossly offensive, disgusting or otherwise of an obscene character and a reasonable person looking at the image would think that any such person or animal was real’.

The image portrays the act ‘in an explicit and realistic way’, according to the charge sheet.

His arrest and charge follow an investigation by the Met’s internal complaints handling team.

DS McNish, of the Met’s East Area Command Unit, will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

The Met said in a statement: ‘A serving MPS officer has been charged with two offences.

‘The arrest and charge follows an investigation by the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards.

‘The officer was not on duty at the time of the alleged sexual offence.’
