Ole Gunnar Solskjaer agrees with Gary Neville that Manchester United still have a lot of work to do both on and off the pitch to challenge for the Premier League title.

The Red Devils are enjoying a superb run, climbing to fifth in the Premier League – just two points below Chelsea – and progressing to the semi-finals of the FA Cup since the season resumed.

But speaking during the week, Man United legend Neville issued a word of warning to his former club and said they were still some way off Liverpool and Man City.

Responding to Neville’s comments, Solskjaer said: ‘Gary is right in a lot of things he says.

‘And of course, we cannot think we’re there. If you look at the table, we’re nowhere near where we should be.

‘Consistency has to be improved and we still have to improve on many aspects of the game.

‘I don’t know how many points we’re behind the top two but Gary’s right – there’s definitely not going to be any complacency and thinking, “we’ve cracked it” because we’ve got so much to do.

‘It’s an enjoyable journey. We can see improvements but, yes, we need to make one or two – or more – very good decisions.

‘It’s going to be an important summer, definitely.’

Manchester United will expect to maintain their impressive run on Saturday when Premier League relegation-battlers Bournemouth visit Old Trafford.

Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson expects Solskjaer’s side to breeze past the Cherries, telling BBC Sport: ‘United are scoring for fun and tearing teams apart – they are probably the last side that Bournemouth want to play at the moment.

‘I really fear for the Cherries. We are used to them being open at the back but their attacking players usually cause real problems for opposition teams and I don’t know what has happened to them all.

‘At the moment it looks like they are going down – it just feels like there is a pall of relegation hanging over the club and their performances at the moment are nowhere near good enough to change that.’
