The cast of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World are reuniting, the cult film’s director has confirmed.

And while it’s for a table read rather than a sequel (shame), the get-together is for a very good cause – namely, Water For People.

The cult film – about a bassist who must defeat the seven evil exes of the girl he wants to date – dropped in 2010 and starred Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Anna Kendrick, among many others.

According to the film’s director Edgar Wright, all three are returning for a charity table read on Monday – alongside the likes of Aubrey Plaza and Chris Evans.

Taking to Twitter to post a picture of the talent having a Zoom meeting, Wright said: ’Monday July 20 at 1pm EST, join me & damn near the full cast for the @EW 10th anniversary virtual read of SCOTT PILGRIM VS THE WORLD in support of @waterforpeople, bringing cleaner and safer water to areas in need worldwide.

‘Visit www.waterforpeople.org/pilgrim to donate and learn more!

‘Featuring (takes breath)… Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, @ellenwongster, @chrisevans, @AnnaKendrick47, @evilhag, @likemark, Alison PiIl, @maebirdwing, @BrandonJRouth, @satyabhabha, @michaelbacall, @bryanleeomalley and Mr. Jason Schwartzman!!!’

Can’t wait!

In a statement, the cast said: ‘Thank you, Scott Pilgrim fans!

‘Without you, there would be no 10-year anniversary celebration. And then we wouldn’t be able to bring you Scott Pilgrim vs the World Water Crisis, brought to you not-at-all-live from the comfort of our homes during a global pandemic quarantine shut-down.

‘This is definitely how we imagined marking this birthday.’

Edgar is also known for directing the films Baby Driver and Hot Fuzz, as well as the TV show Spaced.
