A teacher jailed for sexually abusing two students has been accused of drugging and raping a disabled teen.

Kathryn Houghtaling, 27, was sentenced to up 15 years in March for molesting two students in Rochester Mills, Michigan after she pleaded no contest to six counts of third-degree criminal conduct and one count of delivery of a controlled substance.

Houghtaling admitted to victimizing the boys, aged 16 and 17, in late 2018 after she was accused of having sex with one of the victims in a car while other students watched, according to ClickonDetroit.

‘My actions have consequences that will affect me, my husband, my familiy and friends,’ she said.

‘I want to apologize to all the parties involved, specifically to my students. I know my actions betrayed the duty and responsibility that I had as a teacher. I sincerely never intended for my relationship with them to cause them drama.’

The family of one of Houghtaling’s victims has since filed a lawsuit against the Rochester School District for failing to protect the teen. The lawsuit claims Houghtaling gave the boy Xanax and raped him when he was 17. It also accuses Houghtaling of offering to take the boy’s tests in exchange for sex.

‘A former student at Rochester High School, who suffers from multiple disabilities, including but not limited to a learning disability and attention deficit disorder and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder was repeatedly drugged and raped by his special education teacher,’ the lawsuit claims.

According to the lawsuit, the victim suffered physical pain and emotional distress, adding that the victim was bullied by other students who learned of the sexual abuse. It went on to say that the school alerted the victim’s parents that their son was falling asleep in class. The boy was then taken to a hospital where it was discovered that he had Xanax in his system.

The school district has not responded to the lawsuit, which is seeking unspecified damages,
