Britain’s Got Talent has made Amanda Holden the new head judge, taking over from Simon Cowell after his bike accident.
Media mogul Simon broke his back in August after falling off an e-back, requiring hours of emergency surgery and a metal rod inserted in his back to fix.
He’s now in recovery and as a result will be missing from both America’s Got Talent and Britain’s Got Talent.
A source told The Sun: ‘It makes total sense for Amanda to be head judge with a deciding vote in a deadlock situation.’
‘She cannot wait for the responsibility boost and is certainly going to take it in her stride,’ they added.
While AGT has replaced Simon with celebrity guest stars including Keenan Thompson and Kelly Clarkson, Britain’s Got Talent has recruited Ashley Banjo to complete the panel.
Amanda, who has been on the show since it first launched in 2007, will be bumped up to a head judge position, with Alesha Dixon and David Walliams returning as normal.
Even with months of recovery ahead of him, Simon is still reportedly hopeful to be back on the panel in time for the live final, which is currently scheduled to air in October.
Metro.co.uk has contacted BGT for comment.
With Ant and Dec presenting, the live audience will be replaced this year with a digital audience beaming in from households around the UK.
Semi-finalists have been revealed, with their first performances in the fight to be declared champion airing this weekend.
Britain’s Got Talent continues this Saturday at 8pm on ITV.
