Arsenal have completed the loan signing of Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos as Mikel Arteta continues his summer recruitment drive.

The Spain international flourished under Arteta’s management last season, ending his first loan spell with the Gunners on a high by playing a prominent role in the Gunners’ FA Cup triumph.

Ceballos has had to wait patiently to learn his fate during the close season but has again been deemed surplus to requirements by Real manager Zidane, witch whom he has endured a fractious relationship.

Arteta said he was ‘delighted’ to have Ceballos on board again after his outstanding end the 2019/20 campaign on a high with Arsenal.

‘Dani was and integral part of our team last season and finished the season in excellent form,’ he told Arsenal’s official website.

‘I love Dani’s passion and commitment and he’s a highly skilful player.

‘We’re all delighted to welcome him back and we look forward to seeing him pick up where he left off.’

Technical director Edu added: ‘We’re thrilled to have Dani back with us for the new season.

‘We all know his qualities after an impressive 2019/2020 campaign, which ended with him playing a key role in our FA Cup success.

‘We’re excited to add Dani to the list of quality players we are bringing in.’

The 24-year-old had reportedly been keen on the idea of returning to another of his former club, Real Betis, but Arteta’s powers of persuasion have ultimately helped prove decisive.

According to Marca, Ceballos will spend the entirety of the 2020/21 campaign with Arsenal but the deal does not include an option to make the deal permanent come the end of the season.
