Sarah Michelle Gellar has celebrated her 18th wedding anniversary with husband Freddie Prinze Jr – and seriously, where has the time gone?
The actress took to Instagram to mark the occasion, sharing two black-and-white photos from their wedding day in 2002.
‘You… are my favourite husband #happyanniversary,’ she wrote.
Fans later rushed to the comments to congratulate the pair on their anniversary, with one writing: ‘Truly an iconic couple.’
‘You two make my heart happy,’ another added.
Sarah and Freddie first met on the set of the 1997 horror film I Know What You Did Last Summer, in which they both starred in. However, they did not begin dating for another three years.
They then got engaged in April 2001, and the following year, the two tied the knot in a lavish ceremony in Mexico, and have been going strong ever since.
The couple also have two children together – daughter Charlotte, who was born in 2009, and son Rocky, who they welcomed in 2012.
Freddie previously opened up about their long-lasting marriage in an interview with E! News in 2017, crediting their two-year friendship for helping their romance to go the distance.
‘We just became friends. It’s one of the reasons I think our relationship has always been so good,’ he explained. ‘We were friends for a good two years before we ever went on a date. She knew what kind of guy I was, she knew what my morals were, my priorities were, and vice versa.’
He continued: ‘Neither one of us would have ever – if you ask her, she would have been like, “Oh my God, I thought he was a dork.” And I’d be like, “Oh my gosh, she just ran a million miles an hour and I couldn’t keep up with her.”
‘We ended up being the perfect balance, you know what I mean? But it didn’t happen until years after, and there was a solid foundation built, and that’s probably the main reason why we’ve always been cool and growing.’
And back in January, Sarah also marked 20 years of her and Freddie being in a relationship together with a throwback pic of the two alongside a more recent photo.
She wrote: ‘20 years ago this week, my friend @realfreddieprinze and I were supposed to have dinner with a mutual friend from out of town. That friend missed her flight, but we decided to still meet and catch up.
‘Now 20 years together, 17 plus married and two kids, we still go to that restaurant for dinner. So thank you @sloaney77 for showing up for dinner.’
Couple goals all around.
