Tekashi69 has given his first interview following his stint in prison, and revealed all about how he ‘snitched’ on his former gang.

6ix9ine, real name Daniel Hernandez, gave the police information on the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods in exchange for a shorter sentence for himself on firearms and racketeering charges.

Sentenced to two years in prison, including 13 months already served, Tekashi was allowed out of jail to house arrest amid the coronavirus pandemic due to worries over his asthma if he were to catch the virus.

In his first interview since leaving prison, Tekashi revealed how he ended up testifying against his former gang after publicly leaving them, telling the New York Times: ‘We go to meet with the feds. They say, listen, do you know anybody that’s looking to harm you?

‘Because at this point I’m not cooperating. There’s been a split, and they know it because they hear all the wiretaps.

‘So Friday morning, I do the interview at the Breakfast Club.  I know the feds are monitoring me, making sure no one comes to hurt me, but I don’t know why at this point — I’m pretty scared. I’m tired.

‘On Sunday, I went downstairs and I said, “I need to speak to your boss.” I’m ready to snitch now.

‘The very next morning, they said, you know what, if something happens to this kid, somebody kills him, it’s on us. They took everybody down, knowing in the back of their head, this kid is about to let the whistle blow. The very next morning, I was in their office.’

Tekashi admits he had initally followed the ‘street code’ of not snitching on his associates despite them breaking the code when it came to him.

He admitted he ‘knew what [he] was getting into’ when he joined Nine Trey, but he was providing them with money in exchange for ‘credibility’ and having the ‘gang image’.

When asked whether he worries about his safety in case of any reprisals from the gang members, he added: ‘Without security? A lot. With security? Nah.’

Revealing he spends ‘a lot’ on security, Tekashi explained that he is usually surrounded by at least eight bodyguards, sometimes as many as 22 after turning down the witness protection programme, partly due to his face tattoos making him recognisable.

When asked what his biggest worry about testifying was, 6ix9ine revealed: ‘This probably sounds sick, but I didn’t have a worry, because I wanted to testify.

‘That’s sick, right? But I wanted to tell my truth.’
