Joe Biden has arrived at the White House for the first time since being inaugurated as President of the United States. President Biden and his wife Jill were driven most of the way to their new Washington DC address. Biden climbed out of his Cadillac limo, nicknamed the Beast, a few steps from his new home and told NBC journalist Al Roker: ‘I’m feeling good.’
The president and first lady, their son Hunter, daughter Ashley and the couples’ grandchildren walked behind them during the momentous few months of Biden’s administration. Newly-appointed aides are already at work inside the building.
They moved into their new home after a trip to Arlington Cemetery in Virginia on Wednesday afternoon to lay a wreath at the tome of the unknown soldier. Biden arrived with a special ‘virtual parade’ devised because of the ongoing Covid pandemic, featuring digitized representatives from across the US.
He was heralded by a huge military band, but the usual welcome ceremony featuring hundreds of performers and tens of thousands of spectators was scrapped because of coronavirus, and the January 6 US Capitol riots.

The new president – America’s 46th – is no stranger to the iconic building, having served as vice president under former President Barack Obama between 2009 and 2017.
He and First Lady Biden will reside in the building’s private living quarters, known as the residence, which is separate to the Oval Office, where the president does his work.

President Biden will visit the Oval Office for the first time as president at 5:15pm EST, where he is set to sign more than a dozen executive actions reversing orders put into place by his predecessor Donald Trump.
He moved in just a few hours after Donald and Melania Trump left the White House shortly after 8am EST Wednesday.
The former first couple broke with tradition by immediately flying to their home in Florida, instead of attending President Biden’s inauguration.
