The Bay is back for a second series as family liaison officer DC Lisa Armstrong (Morven Christie) delves into another shocking case.
It gripped the nation for six episodes in 2019 as the mystery surrounding the murder of a student unfolded in the coastal town of Morecambe.
As it pulled in the viewers ITV decided to bring it back for series two throwing Lisa into another harrowing case.
When the show returns tonight, we find her at a low ebb. However she finds herself unexpectedly back on the front line after a shocking murder within a loving family.
This time she must get under the skin of a new host of characters as well as prove her worth, not only to her colleagues and her family but to herself.
We’ll be getting to know some new faces over the coming six weeks – here are the actors behind them.

Daniel Ryan as DI Manning
Tony is the dedicated leader of his team who is also dealing with a broken marriage.
Taheen Modak as DS Med Kharim
Med is a colleague of Lisa’s who had to step up as lead family liaison officer after Lisa was demoted.
Joe Absolom as Andy Warren
Lisa’s estranged husband Andy comes back into her life to try and rebuild the bridges he burnt down.
Stephen Tompkinson as Stephen Marshbrook
The father-of-three whose family comes to get to know Lisa this series.
Sharon Small as Rose Marshbrook
Rose is Stephen’s wife who has lost touch with her son Jamie and daughter Grace.
James Cosmo as Bill Bradwell
Bill is a father figure to Stephen and his wife Rose.
Imogen King as Abbie Armstrong
Abbie is Lisa’s tearaway teenage daughter who has done some growing up since we last saw her.
Lindsey Coulson as Penny
Penny is Lisa’s mum who is struggling to adjust to spending less time with her daughter and grandkids after Lisa’s demotion.
Art Parkinson as Rob Armstrong
Lisa’s son Rob has taken a back seat until he is confronted by a face from his past.
