Jurgen Klopp provided an update on Diogo Jota’s foot injury after Liverpool’s 2-1 victory over West Brom on Sunday.
Shortly before kick-off at the Hawthorns, the Portugal international was ruled out of the clash due an injury he picked up in the win over Manchester United in midweek.
Klopp then ruled the forward out for Liverpool’s remaining two Premier League fixtures against Burnley and Crystal Palace.
The Reds managed to beat the Baggies without the 24-year-old after goalkeeper Alisson stunningly headed home a stoppage-time winner.
West Brom had taken the lead through Hal Robson-Kanu before Mohamed Salah equalised in the first half, and the game looked set to end as a draw until Alisson headed in Trent Alexander-Arnold’s corner in the 95th minute.
Speaking in his post-match press conference, Klopp couldn’t put a timescale on Jota’s return, but said he will be in a protective boot for the ‘next two weeks or so’.
‘Diogo, I don’t know actually,’ Klopp admitted. ‘As I said, it is not too serious but as always, you have to wait [to see] how it develops, how it heals.
‘It is a little bone in the foot and we have to see. I think he will now be in a boot for two weeks or so and when he gets out of the boot then the doctors will check how it developed, how far the progress is, so I don’t know that but of course, it is not a top moment.’
Klopp also revealed that Schalke loanee Ozan Kabak will not return before the end of the season due to injury.
‘Ozan, no,’ he added. ‘No for the long-term [injuries], Ozan isn’t in the long-term [injuries] but nobody is coming back, I think.’
