A teenager placed bets on the Mega Millions lottery a day after butchering two women as part of a demonic pact to win the jackpot, a court has heard.

Danyal Hussein, 19, is accused of stabbing sisters Bibaa Henry, 46, and Nicole Smallman, 27, to death in the early hours of June 6 last year.

The women, who had been celebrating Ms Henry’s birthday, were found dead in bushes in Fryent Country Park in north London the following day.

After Hussein’s arrest on July 1, police found a piece of green card detailing an agreement with a demon in which he pledged to ‘sacrifice’ women in exchange for winning the Mega Millions Super Jackpot lottery – which was £321 million – and was signed in his blood, jurors were told.

The Old Bailey heard on Tuesday that three lottery tickets were found next to the document in Hussein’s bedroom.

Jurors were also told that Hussein had set up an online account with LottoGo.com on June 4 last year.

Bank records were said to have shown that he placed five Mega Millions bets and one Mega Millions syndicate bet totalling £17.50 the day after the killings on June 7 last year.

Two days later, on June 9, three EuroMillions tickets and one EuroMillions syndicate ticket were purchased for £12.50, it was said.

Hussein’s card was also allegedly used to pay for various online scratchcard games on June 13.

The court heard the teenager went on to report his bank card as lost, claiming on June 16 that he was unaware when this had happened.

The same day, a different card in the defendant’s name was allegedly used to purchase four Mega Millions Super Jackpot bets via LottoGo, plus one free bet.

And on June 29, £5.50 was spent on Lotto, EuroMillions and Thunderball tickets which were allegedly recovered from Hussein’s bedroom beside the demon agreement.

Earlier, Detective Constable David Owen gave evidence describing what was found in the search of Hussein’s home after he was arrested.

He told jurors a blue latex glove and black balaclava were found on the floor of a wardrobe, while a blue Nike rucksack containing a folding survival shovel was also seized.

The jury was reminded that a matching rucksack was allegedly used by Hussein when he bought a set of knives in Asda before the killings.

DC Owen went on to describe the search of a refuse centre where belongings left in Fryent Country Park were believed to have been taken by rubbish collectors.

He told the court: ‘We were lucky (that) members of the party who had been with Nicole and Bibaa had taken photos from the party. We were able to identify items we were looking for.’

Jurors were shown a picture of Ms Smallman and Ms Henry taken by a friend on the night of the birthday party in the park.

It showed the sisters sitting on a grey blanket surrounded by cushions and picnic items.

The court heard that detectives sifted through the entire contents of a 40-tonne refuse lorry looking for evidence.

A large blue holdall was recovered, containing bloodstained grey blankets, an unopened sparkling wine bottle, a selfie stick and LED colour changing lights, jurors were told.

Bloodstained cushions were found in a separate area, one bearing the words ‘Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass – it’s about learning to dance in the rain’.

A humorous birthday card addressed to Bibaa was recovered from inside a blue rubbish bag.

Hussein, of Blackheath, south-east London, denies two counts of murder and possessing a knife.

The trial continues.
