Former Sky Sports presenter Simon Thomas has married his girlfriend Derrina Jebb, four years after the death of his first wife Gemma

The TV star announced the happy news on Sunday with an Instagram photo from their nuptials, which took place at Norwich Cathedral.

In the image, Simon, 48, and Derrina, 30, are seen holding hands while walking down a church aisle in their wedding attire.

Derrina looked stunning in a white off-the-shoulder wedding dress which featured a long train and veil, while Simon looked dapper in a blue suit and white tie. The newlyweds beamed with joy as they were cheered on by their wedding guests.

‘Love. Wins,’ Simon captioned the photo.

Former Blue Peter presenter Angellica Bell appears to have attended the wedding and commented: ‘Thank you for letting us share your special day. ❤️.’

Simon was previously married to first wife Gemma until her death in 2017 at the age of 40. The couple were parents to son Ethan, 10.

Gemma died suddenly on November 24, just three days after being diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia.

Acute myeloid leukaemia is an aggressive form of cancer of the myeloid cells, with only 3,100 cases in the UK each year, mostly in people over 80.

Symptoms of the disease include unusual bruising and bleeding, feeling tired, losing weight and breathlessness.

Simon wrote a book on his experience of dealing with grief, called Love, Interrupted: Navigating Grief One Day At A Time, in which he describes the guilt he felt after Gemma’s sudden death about not insisting on medical help sooner for her.

‘In her final week, she went to the GP twice, but each time was sent home without even a blood test. Whenever I relive that time in my mind, the guilt is always there, nagging away at me,’ he wrote.

‘I’m still asking myself those same questions: “Why the hell didn’t you do something? Why didn’t you pick her up, carry her to the car and take her straight to hospital before it got so bad?”.’

A year after Gemma’s untimely death, Simon revealed he was dating Derrina, calling her an ‘amazing woman who has stood shoulder to shoulder with me in some of my darkest hours and has become a rock not just for me, but for my boy, too’, when talking to Anna Foster on BBC Radio 5 Live.

Derrina, a Christian like Simon, is the daughter of a church minister and works in the legal industry.

The couple made their first public appearance in March 2019 at Cheltenham Festival.

Derrina appears to have developed a close relationship with Simon’s son Ethan, as he often shares photos of the pair spending quality time together.

Simon recently celebrated Derrina’s 30th birthday with a sweet Instagram post of the pair on a boat, with the caption: ‘She hates #pda‘s so all I will say is Happy 30th Birthday to the brilliant, extraordinary, fun, loving and beautiful @derrina You’re quite simply the absolute best.

‘I’m so very blessed to be able to do life with you.’
