Cobra Kai’s William Zapka teases more trouble between Johnny and Daniel and shock return in season 3 of Karate Kid follow-up

Cobra Kai, just like the show’s dojo, has been given a revival thanks to Netflix – and now star William Zapka has teased season 3 is the best yet.

The actor, who is reprising his role Johnny Lawrence from the beloved 80s flick Karate Kid, is taking centre stage in the series, which started life on YouTube before being bought by the streaming giant.

While we may have to wait until 2021 for the new episodes to drop, William promises it’s going to be worth it.

Speaking to ComicBook.com, he said: ‘Season 3 is gonna be worth the wait. It’s going to deliver in a great way, on all fronts. Be some surprises, there’s things you expect that aren’t going to happen, but that’s on purpose. I mean, you couldn’t figure it out.’

The war between Johnny and his original enemy Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) continued to get more out of control, resulting in an all-out war between Cobra Kai and Miyagi-Do dojos.

While Daniel has been told by his wife to cease Miyagi-Do, Cobra Kai has lost its dojo completely, leaving Johnny without a direction once again.

But in the final moments, the return of Daniel and Johnny’s mutual first love Ali was teased – and while William kept quiet about it, he couldn’t resist a tease on what lies ahead for them.

For starters, ‘not everything is as it seems’.

‘I’ve been saying this for the last two seasons, she’s a big missing piece of his life. She’s the love that got away and in some form would love to reconnect,’ he said.

‘But the show is full of surprises.’

‘I could tell you this much. I mean, the end of Season 2 is a car wreck essentially,’ William continued. ‘There’s a lot of pieces to put back together.

‘There’s a lot of healing that has to happen. There’s a lot of growing that needs to happen.’

Cobra Kai is now available on Netflix.
