Andi Peters received an awkwardly cold welcome when he showed up at a winner’s house on Good Morning Britain, having the door slammed in his face, much to Richard Madeley and Susanna Reid’s amusement.
On Wednesday’s edition of the ITV programme, Andi headed over to the home of someone who had won £3,000 in the show’s ‘wake up a winner’ competition.
However, when he knocked on the door, it was quickly made apparent that the residents of the house weren’t expecting any visitors so early in the morning, having just gone half seven.
At first when Andi, 50, rapped on the door, he received no reply – prompting Richard, 65, to say that he might have to ‘kick it down’.
Before Andi had to resort to taking any drastic measures to get the winner’s attention, the door opened – and a man who appeared to just be wearing pyjama bottoms answered.
‘Good morning, is Elaine there?’ the TV presenter asked, as the man at the door exasperatedly replied: ‘God.’
Richard and Susanna, 50, were in hysterics as the man told Andi to wait a second, closing the door as he seemingly went to fetch Elaine.
Ranvir Singh, 43, also saw the funny side of the situation as she reacted from the ITV studio, chuckling along with Richard and Susanna.
When Andi turned back to the door with the hope of greeting the winner, it remained closed, as he optimistically called for Elaine yet again.
Lo and behold, Elaine finally arrived on her porchway, wearing a pink dressing gown while carrying a dog.
Elaine couldn’t believe it as Andi informed her that she had won £3,000 in the competition after entering it yesterday, looking stunned as he handed her a bouquet of flowers.
Several GMB viewers found the encounter hilarious, with one tweeting that it goes to prove that the competition ‘clearly was NOT a fix’.
‘If Andi Peters turned up at my door and I was in my hoosey, no make up, hair a mess..no way would I open that door to be on national tele, 3k or not,’ another remarked.
On today’s GMB, Richard sparked Alan Partridge comparisons from viewers as he compared Shamima Begum to the Hitler Youth in one of his many chaotic moments on the show.
His co-host Susanna was clearly not expecting him to say anything of the sort, looking startled as she reacted without comment.
‘There is so much crossover between Richard Madeley and Alan Partridge that you forget who said what,’ one viewer said in response.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
