A woman exposed her breasts and pressed her bare bum against an officer – having told the police she herself was a sexual assault victim.

Sophie Cleary, 29, dropped her trousers before sexually assaulting one of two cops who visited her over fears her drink had been spiked.

She also spat at and pushed her knee into an officer’s back.

Cleary called 999 at 6.30am after a night at a friend’s house last summer, claiming she had been a victim of sexual assault.

But when police arrived, she did not engage with them – instead choosing to stay on the phone to an operator for more than 40 minutes, Manchester Crown Court heard.

She finally ended the call before exposing her breasts to the two officers and asked into their body cams: ‘Do you want me to show this to your camera?’

Cleary, from Oldham, then called them ‘b**s’ and revealed her backside.

When she was arrested and put in a police van, she started kicking the doors.

Sophie Nicole Cleary, 29, was handed an 18 month community order by Miss Recorder Mary Prior QC at Manchester Crown Court.

She also spat at one of the officers – at a time when Oldham was on the brink of being placed into a local coronavirus lockdown.

The defendant admitted sexual assault and two counts of attacking an emergency service worker.

She was given an 18-month community order, told to undertake a 30-day rehabilitation programme and handed a night-time curfew.

Judge Mary Prior QC said it was unclear what made Cleary behave the way she did, but criticised her ‘disgusting’ actions.

The court was told she had been diagnosed with various mental health conditions, which become worse when she is put under high levels of stress.

Her son’s dad has just been released from prison after a series of ‘serious offences’, Judge Prior heard.

She said: ‘All that we know is that on August 15, you called the police in distress because you believed you had been assaulted.

‘We have no idea of whether that is because you received a drug you did not intend to take or because of the drink.

‘You concede that you dealt with this in a bad way. You behaved aggressively.

‘When they were trying to help you, you spat in one of their faces.

‘That is a disgusting thing to do.’
