Sheridan Smith has sadly split from fiancé Jamie Horn after three years together.
The news was confirmed last night by the two in a joint statement, which was issued to The Sun.
It read: ‘It is with great sadness that we have decided to have some time apart.
‘We both remain completely committed to raising our beautiful boy Billy together. We ask that you respect our privacy during this difficult time. Thank you.’
News of their break-up comes a week after the actress celebrated her 40th birthday, as she thanked fans for their well wishes on social media.
Here is everything you need to know about the couple’s relationship together…
When did Sheridan Smith and Jamie Horn first start dating and how long had they been engaged?
Sheridan first met insurance broker Jamie, who is 10 years her junior, on Tinder in early 2018, and they got engaged in May of that year.
A source told The Sun at the time: ‘Sheridan is head over heels in love. Jamie is very serious about her. He has introduced Sheridan to his mum already.’
The insider added that Jamie, 31, happened to pop the question with quite an expensive ring as well.
‘He brought her a ring to propose, a very expensive one actually, it’s about £10,000,’ they explained. ‘She doesn’t wear the ring on her finger, she’s got a necklace.
‘She wears it there because she doesn’t want people to see that she’s got a ring.’
However, Sheridan was previously forced to deny claims that she and her partner were actually married, after they were spotted wearing bands on their wedding fingers.
The star explained during an appearance on This Morning: ‘I do wear two bands on my hands, but mainly this one is too big and it does keep it on.
‘But Jamie does wear his wedding ring, we’re not actually married, we just do it. My friends do that but no one actually talks about it.
‘We didn’t think about it when we took a picture and put it on Twitter and then of course everyone thought that we were married.’
She also defended referring to Jamie as her ‘hubby’, saying it was simply a ‘nickname’ for him.
Did Jamie Horn and Sheridan Smith share any children?
The pair have a one-year-old son named Billy, who was born on May 9 2020.
Sheridan confirmed the news of his birth on Instagram, sharing a sweet snap of her holding the newborn’s tiny hand.
‘Our little man has arrived! We are both completely overwhelmed with love,’ she wrote.
She confirmed she was pregnant in November 2019 after sharing a baby blanket photo, and had previously sparked rumours she was expecting when she said she had ‘a baby on board’ while performing on board a cruise.
Sheridan and Jamie had previously appeared in a one-off ITV documentary about their pregnancy journey, titled Sheridan Smith: Becoming Mum.
She revealed last year that it was nerve-wracking becoming a mother during lockdown, as usually there would be more people around for help and advice.
‘We were in lockdown for eight weeks after that with no help and we hadn’t had any antenatal classes, so it was a bit of a scary time,’ she said at the time.
What happened to Sheridan Smith’s Twitter account?
Sheridan had previously deleted her social media accounts back in May, including her Twitter page.
Before she disappeared from the online platforms, she had sparked concern from fans after posting a cryptic message, saying she’d had the ‘most shocking news’ as she begged her followers to ‘be kind’.
Posting a picture of herself standing in a window to Instagram, she captioned the image: ‘Just had the most shocking news, don’t let people get you down.
‘We are here for a short time people, please be kind x.’
Sheridan gave no further clue as to what had happened but her followers were quick to leave supportive messages while they could.
It is possible that her post alluded to issues in her personal life, foreshadowing her split from Jamie.
Since then, she has reactivated her online profiles, including her Twitter account – and last week, she shared a picture of her and her son celebrating her birthday to Instagram.
